Location

Located in the province of Neuquén, within Argentine Patagonia, the city of Zapala has experienced a 25% population increase during the last census period. It sits centrally within the Atlantic-Pacific bioceanic corridor, which fosters and will continue to foster consistent economic, urban, and architectural development. Based on this context, it is essential to design a judicial structure that meets these growing demands and responds to the region’s needs.

Zapala’s geographic location emphasizes its strategic importance as a center for legal affairs, making it essential to have the supporting infrastructure of a comprehensive judicial complex to meet the region’s legal needs.

Justice and Architecture

Justice and architecture have shared a profound relationship since their beginnings. We believe that their proper integration will be a fundamental axis for societal development, as well as for urban and economic growth.

The concept of justice goes beyond mere legal procedures, as it is the foundation for the development of a coherent and equitable society. Thus, the proposed complex symbolizes a beacon for the city and an urban landmark, initiating the opening of an institutional axis that promises to connect the indefinite urban extensions through a series of special-use blocks, enabling the creation of both public and private architectural projects that enhance and revitalize the northwest sector of the city.

Urban Integration

In terms of its integration, the proposal presents a complex that will act as an urban-social catalyst for institutional and economic development within the city. The core of the project is a public square surrounded by different independent buildings, fostering civic and institutional life while also addressing the climatic demands of the area.

The phased implantation strategy demonstrates a logical settlement process that aligns with the urban formation process, not only at the city’s edges but also within its internal logic.
