Of Reciprocal Relationships
From the contemplation of the surrounding environment, the new Center for Experimentation, Innovation, and Development in Design and Construction FADU – UNL is proposed. The project is configured as a continuum of the reserve, ensuring a direct dialogue with it.
Two buildings are proposed to guarantee phased execution and differentiate the program. The first phase consists of a workshop building developed as a single open-plan level, enabling flexibility of use, space integration, and future transformations. The second phase consists of a mixed-use building developed in height, with the program organized by levels. Both buildings are connected on the first level through a bridge leading to a Terrace – Viewpoint, oriented towards the reserve in recognition of its landscape quality. The volumes define a plaza, Plaza Obrador, which expands the entrance area and functions as a production and exhibition device. This meeting space contributes to the design experience and fosters the integration between theoretical reflection and production.
The intervention is conceived as a large project powerhouse, with its outdoor exhibition and work plazas. The purpose is to promote learning experiences, stimulate ties between the academic community and the public, and ensure a space for exchanging experiences. Thus, the Center for Experimentation, Innovation, and Development overflows into the outdoor space, making its use evident, manifesting collective activities and research, and showcasing work daily.
